Rural Youth Network updates

It has been a busy time for the RYN team…

Jarrod Stephens and Stephanie Hartshorn have settled into their Youth Engagement Leader roles and are currently planning events to create connections in the East Gippsland and northern Victorian regions.

As a team, we attended a Youthrive communications training session delivered by former Scholar, Jarvis Holt, to refine our ‘elevator pitch’ and skills in selling the RYN to the many different audiences. Social media manager, Kitty Robinson, has been busy developing our social media strategy and working towards the official launch of the RYN Facebook page. Tameka Lougoon has done a wonderful job working with Tech Studio to stream line the sign up process and fine tune functionality on the website.

Stephanie recently hosted an online information session for volunteers interested in becoming mentors in the Branch Out Mentoring program. Multiple schools have expressed interested in participating and we look forward to delivering the program in the coming months.

Jarrod recently hosted an in person event as part of Bairnsdale Secondary Collage careers week, where the RYN was introduced to over 80 students from years 11 and 12, who learnt about the incredible opportunities the Network has to offer. The RYN team are now busy planning for upcoming events at the western Victorian careers expo, and the regional YACvic ‘Reshape Our Future’ youth forum in June, where Stephanie will promote the RYN as a guest speaker.
