COMMUNITY LEADER SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2018 we were delighted to offer our first Community Leader Scholarship. These scholarships are created to highlight the great community leadership we see from young rural Victorians and to provide development opportunities for current and future rural leaders. Your community might like to provide this great opportunity to a young person.

Thanks to generous support from the Findex Community Fund and philanthropic trusts, Youthrive Victoria can once again offer a Community Leader Scholarship for a young rural person from the Wimmera region.

From October, we are inviting community groups and individuals to nominate an impressive young local person to participate in the Youthrive Victoria Young Rural Leaders Program to be held in January 2022 at Narmbool – a farm property near Ballarat. A group of 25 emerging rural leaders will develop leadership skills and personal abilities, forge new networks, be offered career mentoring, and remain connected through the Alumni program.

The Scholarship comprises a place in the Young Rural Leaders Program (including accommodation and meals) and $500 to help cover any lost wages or travel costs to attend the program.

Eligibility

The nominee must be an Australian Citizen or Resident aged 16-24 who has lived in the Wimmera area of Victoria for the past 3 years.  We define ‘Wimmera’ as the local government areas of Ararat, Hindmarsh, Horsham, Northern Grampians, Pyrenees, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.

Nomination Process

Nominations should be submitted on the form available from Youthrive Victoria. You should briefly describe how the young person you are nominating meets the following selection criteria:

1. Leadership in the local community
2. Overcoming personal disadvantage
3. Passion for living in the Wimmera region
4. Impact of this opportunity on their life and their community

Please identify a referee who can speak about the character and qualities of your nominee.
