Celebrating rural communities

You are here:

As we travel about the state, our Youthrive Victoria team experience so many great things happening in rural schools and communities. We are inspired by what we see and warmed by the welcomes we receive. We would like to share with you some of these colourful and wonderful stories of regional living and education. Every town we visit has something special and worth celebrating!

During our June Dream Seeds® travels, we visited Bruthen Primary School, where, during a student led assembly, we were moved by the singing of We are Australian in English and local Gunaikurnai language. We also loved ‘exercise time’ before school which included some very adept roller blading! Bruthen Primary is a small school with a BIG heart! The Bruthen pub  serves excellent meals and the bakery is sensational too.

On our Goulburn Valley July trip we visited no less than seven schools and enjoyed working with more than 220 staff and students. We loved the colour in some of the beautiful new buildings, as well as the many interesting displays in the learning spaces. In Goulburn Valley we saw once more the amazing teaching and learning taking place in our rural schools, with engaged and interesting students and supportive teachers. We feel privileged to be welcomed into these schools and communities.

Tongala is a beautiful town with the most amazing street art. We were lucky to have time to visit the excellent bakery for morning tea and go for a walk past many of the street art murals.

We also had a lovely picnic lunch at the Lockington Travellers Rest and after an inspiring Dream Seeds® workshop with the wonderful primary school students at Lockington Consolidated School, we visited the legendary Ciurleo’s Ice Cream & Waffle House – where you can find quite possibly the best hot chocolate in Victoria, and also where we came across this happy little road trip-loving, motorbike-savvy dog!
