Developing future rural leaders

The Youthrive Victoria Young Rural Leaders Program took place on January 6-12 and saw 26 participants from across the state come to Narmbool for a week of leadership development and connection.

The program was managed by Jessie Newton, who was assisted by Brady Cronin and strong coaching team including, Tyler Trevaskis, Hannah Humphries, Rory Speirs, Susan Langborne, Phillip Konstandopoulos, Amanda Fontaine, Escher Russell, Sanchita Sakar and Zachary Miesen. Thank-you to the wonderful Narmbool staff, Damon, Kim and Matt for their support, and congratulations to the team for their outstanding efforts organising and running the camp.

In November last year, Youthrive Victoria received a grant from the RE Ross Trust to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid to 30 Youthrive Victoria Alumni per year over the next 3 years. A group of alumni undertook the two-day training which they all found incredibly valuable, particularly those who went on to coach in the January camp.

Youthrive Victoria has also received funding from the RE Ross Trust to support the employment of a Leadership Program Coordinator, Rebecca Postlethwaite, who will be working on further developing our program and undertaking research surrounding the outcomes of the Young Rural Leaders Program to share with the sector.
