Dream Seeds – 1000 students!

You are here:

Our Dream Seeds® program recently engaged with our 1000th primary school student as we delivered two series of workshops to Year 6 students in regional Victoria.

Dream Seeds® workshops are created and delivered by Youthrive Victoria alumni and assist Year 6 students to build a sense of agency and aspiration, and prepare for the transition to secondary school. The Dream Seeds® program assists Year 6 students to identify personal values, goals and issues that are important to them, while connecting with rural young people who, as young adults, are now studying and training.

Alumni facilitators benefit from training and practice in program development and delivery, as well as the connections they form with each other on the regional road trips, and the professional networks they develop.

During out East Gippsland workshop series in June, our alumni connected with 46 students across Bruthen, Orbost and Orbost North primary schools. The program was very well received and served as an important reminder of the positive impact we can have in remote communities.

In July, the Dream Seeds® team delivered workshops to a total 220 students across seven schools in the Goulburn Valley, including Kyabram P-12, Lockington Consolidated School, and Tongala, Shepparton East, St Brendan’s and Murchison/Dhurringile primary schools – our biggest workshop series to date!

The four-day Goulburn workshop series involved 13 Youthrive Victoria alumni including 6 newly trained presenters and two observers. At the P-12 school, the Dream Seeds® team also had the opportunity to chat with some year 12 students about their goals and aspirations following high school.

It has certainly been a busy, productive and satisfying winter for the Dream Seeds® team!
