Youthrive Victoria Attends YACVic YERP Relaunch 2024
On Wednesday, September 18, Courtney, one of our Rural Engagement Coordinators, attended YACVic’s relaunch of the Youth Engagement Resource Platform (YERP). This event, held at the Multicultural Hub in Melbourne, provided a valuable opportunity for Courtney to learn about the platform’s upgrade and share insights with the Youthrive Victoria team.
The YERP platform, originally launched in 2013, has been upgraded in consultation with over 200 younger and older people across Victoria with a focus on youth participation, engagement and empowerment.
These youth contributors shared their lived experiences and perspectives to ensure the platform remains relevant and impactful for young people. YERP offers a range of resources, including articles, videos, and infographics, aimed at empowering young people with information on safety, skill-building, advocacy, and community involvement.
Courtney found the event to be incredibly insightful, particularly hearing firsthand from the co-designers about how the platform was created and how it can be used to support youth participation.
“Attending the YACVic YERP Re-launch Event was a great experience and something I’m thankful I got to do! YERP is a valuable resource, and learning how it was created and can be used, as told by youth co-designers, was really interesting,” Courtney said.
She also appreciated the opportunity to connect with others working across the Victorian youth sector and explore YAC’s other initiatives and community programs.
This experience has allowed Courtney to bring back useful information to further enrich the work Youthrive Victoria does in supporting rural young people, making sure that they have access to the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive.
