Meet our new Rural Youth Network Leaders

You are here:

We welcome our newest members of the Youthrive team; Rural Youth Network Leaders Bree-Anna Cummins and Finn Poxon.

Bree-Anna Cummins

Bree-Anna grew up in Caramut, in the south-west region of Victoria. After completing her schooling at Mortlake College, she moved to Ballarat to study acting. Since attending the Young Rural Leaders program in 2017, Bree-Anna has completed her Bachelor of Acting at Federation University. She is continuing with further study, currently completing Certificate 3 in Floristry, and engaging in free-lance performance work.

As a creative, she is trained in innovation and thrives on creating new ways for people to connect. She sees the RYN as an exciting new possibility to build stronger ties, stronger communities and stronger youth on the foundation of leadership. An experienced performer and presenter Bree-Anna is committed to developing more open and sustainable communities by providing valuable resources that she never had. She has already made a significant contribution to Youthrive Victoria as a mentor and leader of Branch Out Mentoring program for VCE students in rural schools.

Finn Poxon

Having grown up and attended school in the small rural community of Boort, Finn has developed an ethos of giving back to the community that supported him. From a young age he played sport and later developed an interest in leadership by volunteering his time to the clubs he was involved with. In his final years of schooling, Finn was heavily involved in the Boort District Health Murray to Moyne team and the Boort Hockey Club.

Finn describes his role in the Murray to Moyne team as a rewarding experience that has not only allowed him to develop strong, diverse connections within the Boort community, but also provided an opportunity to become involved in raising funds for the local hospital and Boort District School. Finn was the integral link between the hospital and school, organising the ‘Ride to School’ day to help fundraise and support the team.

Finn is keen to assist and support young people from rural communities to increase their connections through activities presented by Youthrive Victoria, as well as promoting and expanding the RYN online platform for both young people and relevant services and organisations. With well developed facilitation skills, Finn has participated in Dream Seeds workshops (for Year 5/6 students) and has coached on the Young Rural Leaders program.

Youthrive Victoria looks forward to developing the Rural Youth Network with leadership from Bree-Anna and Finn and involvement from many alumni members.
