Celebrating Impact, Empowering Rural Futures – A Special Evening with Youthrive Victoria
On August 1st, Youthrive Victoria hosted the “Celebrating Impact, Empowering Rural Futures” supporter event at the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust offices in Melbourne.
The evening brought together donors, partners, alumni and supporters, all of whom have played a crucial role in helping to empower young rural Victorians. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on our successes and to look ahead at the exciting future of rural capacity building.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from our emcee, Angus Clark, a Youthrive Victoria alumni member. Throughout the evening, attendees had the privilege of hearing directly from young people whose lives have been impacted through Youthrive Victoria’s programs.
Among the speakers was Ariel Hudson-Halford, a 2024 university scholar, who shared her personal story of how Youthrive Victoria has shaped her academic and personal journey. Ariel was followed by Jacob Dunne, a Rural Engagement Coordinator and Young Rural Leaders Program alumnus, who spoke about the impactful work being done across rural and regional Victoria, and his experience with Youthrive Victoria as both a participant and staff member.
Youthrive Victoria’s Alumni Committee was represented by Charles Farrell, who reflected on the importance of staying connected to Youthrive Victoria and the opportunities it provides for continued growth and development.
Noah Clarke, a 2024 Rural Chances scholarship recipient, shared a powerful story about how the scholarship and Youthrive Victoria’s wrap-around care has opened doors for him to pursue a stepping stone to his dream career. He spoke about how the experience has pushed him beyond his comfort zone and provided him with opportunities he never thought possible, opening doors to new possibilities and personal growth.
University scholars Amelia Hunt (2020 recipient) and Milla Searle (2024 recipient) both shared their impactful journeys through Youthrive Victoria and the positive impact it has had on their futures.
CEO Andrew McGuckian outlined Youthrive Victoria’s Strategic Plan for 2024-2026, which reaffirms our commitment to building capacity within rural communities by developing the skills and leadership of young rural people. Andrew’s address was followed by remarks from Bruce Anderson, Chair of the Youthrive Victoria Board, who reinforced the organisation’s mission to empower the next generation of rural leaders.
The evening concluded with a chance for guests to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and engage further with the inspiring young people who shared their journeys. It was a night that showcased the profound impact of the collective efforts of Youthrive Victoria’s supporters, reminding everyone of the power of investing in rural futures.
We thank all who attended for their support and look forward to continuing our work together to create lasting change for rural young people and their communities.
